First, a few faves meet their matches... The Flirts - Parvati Shallow and Mary Sartain. If out-flirting were part of the Survivor creed, Parvati Shallow, 25, would've walked away from the Cook Islands a million bucks richer. And as far as real estate company owner Mary Sartain, 29, is concerned, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. "Parvati's probably my favorite Survivor player," Sartain says. CBS sticks with Survivor; Probst re-ups as host |
|
 LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - CBS has renewed "Survivor," ordering 17th and 18th installments of the long-running reality series. Additionally, Jeff Probst has signed a new deal to continue as host. The series' 16th edition, "Survivor: Micronesia," premieres February 7. Casting for "Survivor 17" is under way.

From fan to contestant: ISU student joins Survivor cast |
|
 Many students attend ISU looking to gain experience and knowledge for the real world. However, one student is taking his knowledge and experience above and beyond the working world. Jason Siska, a 22-year-old ISU student, is a contestant on the upcoming season of CBS's recurring reality show, "Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites," giving a Midwestern flavor to the show.

Armstrong man says 'Survivor' grueling |

 An Armstrong County man will appear on a nationally televised reality show. Chet Welch of Bethel was chosen to test his strength as one of 10 ultra-fan tribe castaways in "Survivor: Micronesia -- Fans vs. Faves." The show premieres Feb. 7 on CBS. "It is the only reality TV show I ever wanted to go on and the only one I will do," Welch said. Without auditioning for the chance to outwit other castaways, Welch said he never expected to receive a phone interview with Erika Shay, a "Survivor" casting agent.

CHINA, I believe, is usually reserved for the 20th anniversary, not the 15th. But CBS, eager to keep alive the romance between the network's most successful "reality" show and its once-fanatic viewers, is bypassing crystal - tricky gift, that - and marking the 15th edition of "Survivor" by stranding its contestants in the world's most populous country.
Over the course of the past 14 seasons of Survivor, it should be obvious that contestants need to learn certain rules to play by. Sure, sometimes the rules are broken and a person still succeeds, but more often they work more or less perfectly, as they did for the likes of Brian, Chris, and Yul. CBS has booked China as the location for the next edition of "Survivor," and locked in premiere dates for two key summer reality shows -- including Mark Burnett's "Pirate Master."
